1. Are they intentionally making “Breakfast Club” references? Your wording feels a little sloppy there, Jason’s Dad.
2. I’m sure Jason is good at football, but he seems a little small to be THAT good at football.
3. *orders a slice of pie, a la mode* *pie arrives with Jason sitting on top of it, because he couldn’t be more vanilla*
4. Billy is already my favorite character
5. If you’re going to spend millions of dollars on special effects, you should spend more than $20 on dialogue.
6. So far, the only thing I know about Zack and Trini is that they like to stand/sit on things.
7. Billy blowing stuff up is pretty great. Best character.
8. But how does Billy’s mom react to her van BEING DESTROYED?
9. How did they get back in their beds?? Will that question ever be answered?? (Spoiler: no)
10. Starring Bryan Cranston as a wall
11. The graphic t-shirts/tanks on this rag-tag band of teens are SUPER distracting.
12. You know, sarcastic remarks aside, I’m genuinely enjoying this movie for what it is. In terms of “gritty reboots of childhood franchises,” this is pretty solid. The life crystal thing is a simple (maybe too simple) motivation for the characters, but it works.
13. Elizabeth Banks is just hissing the word “gold” and I’m here for it.
14. Dang, Rita lit that gold store (?) UP.
15. C-A-M-P-F-I-R-E-S-O-N-G song
16. Ahhhh Billy noooooo
17. Ahhhhh Zordon yesss
18. “It’s morphin’ time.” These poor actors.
19. Did they just segue from the “Go Go Power Rangers” theme to “Power” by Kanye West??????? That may have just saved the whole movie.
20. The gold monster is way more terrifying than I thought it would be.
21. Did the teamwork theme spring up from the need to put the Megazord in the movie? Or did the teamwork theme organically lead to the inclusion of the Megazord? (Probably the first one, right?)
22. They slapped her into OUTER SPACE??? Genuinely love it.
Final Thoughts: It’s definitely not boring! Must-see if you’ve ever been a Power Rangers fan.
